I hope pictures give you a glimpse of the crowd at the ward and narrate the story better. Akinlade acknowledged the support he has since received from the people of Ogun Central while assuring them to never neglect them. “The central must not fall, it must remain strong and firm because it is like the pillar holding the West and the East of our state. I Honourable Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, I will abide, I will sustain, maintain and improve all the developmental projects being executed by Senator Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun state, especially here in the central.”Akinlade said. He said he was confident of massive votes from the ward but cautioned that people be wary of the plans of his opponents to rig. The chants were loud, the people were very vocal in their support and the Baales of the community were not exempted from the crowd that came to show solidarity. Highlight from Owowo was the defection of a former Chairman of Ewekoro Local Government, Hon Makinde Iskilu Ajani from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Allied Peoples Movement. 425 former members of the Action Democratic Party also defected to the APM. They were received into the party by Akinlade who wore the party’s caps on their heads to signify the official reception of the decampees. The turn out of supporters was so impressive and a lot of them carried bunches of cassavas to signify the party’s logo and identify with the party. The women and youths leaders who spoke confirmed that the ward was ready to deliver block votes for APM. Akinlade said he was particular about the ward and wanted the people of the ward to fight the injustice meted on him and other APM candidates in the APC primaries of October 2nd. He recalled that Wasimi ward is the ward of Hon Ibrahim Isiaka, the House representative candidate of the APC in the constituency who did not win in the primary but bought a stolen mandate from the APC National Working Committee. Akinlade urged them to not allow the injustice to stand. He reiterated his commitment to the overall development of Ogun State while urging them to vote for him to ensure the continuity of good governance in the state. “Ogun state must progress and that is my sole drive. My administration which will be sworn in by May 29 or June 12, which ever one the constitution allows, would replicate the development seen in the capital to other communities. I’m a revenue generation guru, my running mate is the former commissioner for Agriculture. What this means is that we’re capable, the money to be used is there and we will generate even more.” Akinlade said. Akinlade promised to complete all projects that Amosun could not complete. “Ogun State would come first in everything that we do.”he added.
