THE MOVEMENT HAS BEGUN! The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Campaign Train has left the party secretariat in Abeokuta, with hundreds of vehicles forming the campaign convoy, en route Imeko-Afon. Thousands of the party’s supporters form the convoy. We’ve received signal that the party’s supporters in Imeko are already stationed, awaiting the arrival of the campaign train from Abeokuta.
We have a brief stop at Baptist Nur/Pry school in Olorunda where the party’s supporters in that community have camped to welcome the campaign train. Hon Adekunle Akinlade addressed the party’s faithful, urging them to come out en masse to vote for APM during the February and March polls. The DG of the campaign council, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Isola also addressed the crowd. The crowd amidst songs, dances and drums are pledging their support for the APM team.
We’re now in Agboro-gbomo ward. The APM party’s stakeholders in the ward received the train with drums, dances and songs of solidarity. Ogun State Hunters Association, Imeko Afon Unit, Oloro Golden Club, others, are among organised groups that welcomed the campaign train.
The campaign train has now reached Atapele ward. 100s of former APC members in the region officially announced their defection to the APM. They were led by the former youth leader of the APC in the community. Hon Akinlade officially received them, promised to never take their gesture for granted. The Baales of the community were all present to welcome the movement. The Baale of Egede Afon, Baale Otapele, Baale of Ilupeju Olokuta, Baale Ibara-Afon are among the Chiefs present. The crowd is large, the reception was intimidating and the support is unprecedented!
The movement has now reached Afon ward. Our first stop was the palace of the monarch of Afon, the Obaladi of Afon land – Oba Busari Alamu Adelere. The king rained prayers on Akinlade and the other APM candidates. He in fact used the town’s deity “Obaladi” to pray for the success of the movement. We’re now on our way to Baptist Day Nur and Pry school, the meeting point of the party faithfuls in Afon.
The train just left Kajola / Agberiodo ward. Yes it’s late and everywhere is dark, but this did not deter our supporters waiting for the arrival of the campaign train. The crowd was massive and lively! This kind of crowd was not expected considering the time and the distance but the people had resolved to show their support. The youths of the ward announced their resolve to support and vote in all APM candidates. Same as the women of the community. The commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko urged the people of the community to not waste their votes and align with the winning team which is The APM. Triple A addressed the enthusiastic crowd, promised to bring about development to the community when he emerges governor. Hundreds of former members of ADC, ADP and APC announced their official defection to the APM. The said they have “seen the light” and “tired of following losers”. They were received by Triple A, his running mate and The DG of the APM campaign council Chief Sarafa Tunji Isola.
The train has now retired for today at the Celestial City in Imeko. We are at the venue of the grand campaign of The APM in Imeko. The grand campaign will be held here at the Celestial City tomorrow, God’s willing. The thousands of the party loyalists that have been following the train since yesterday, most of which kept vigil at the Celestial City Ground, are ready and gallant to keep the movement on. But before the train moves, the DG of the APM campaign council Chief Sarafa Tunji Isola and our incoming governor Hon Adekunle AbdulKabir Akinlade are addressing the crowd. They both appreciated the resolve of the supporters, charged them to keep the support high while prayer sessions from both faiths were held. Food and other refreshments are all here for the ease of the supporters. Triple A has announced that we’ll be visiting the monarch of Imeko before we commence the movement. I can tell you, the spirit is high here, the morale is high and everyone here is motivated to continue the movement to victory!
We are now at the palace of the Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Alabi Olamide, to pay him and his Chiefs a courtesy visit. Chief Jide Ojuko introduced the governorship candidate, his running mate and other candidates of the party. He as well introduced the members of the campaign council. The DG of APM campaign council, Chief Sarafa used his address to emphasise on the fact that Yewa is long due to produce a governor after over four decades of being sidelined, he added that Hon Adekunle Akinlade is more posed to make the Yewa agenda a reality. He therefore urged the monarch to throw his weight behind Akinlade’s candidature. The Chairman of The Ogun West Elders Council, Dr Olagbaye and his vice Dr Ogunsiji are here. Dr Ogunsiji gave a brief on how Akinlade emerged the consensus candidate from Ogun West. He stressed that Akinlade was not imposed. Hon Adekunle Akinlade commended the warm reception he has been receiving in Imeko since yesterday. He made a brief of the development plan he has for Ogun state while urging the Oba and his Chiefs to back him. He promised to never take their supports for granted. The Oba said Hon Adekunle Akinlade was at home in Imeko. He said he became the King of Imeko courtesy of the efforts of Sen Ibikunle Amosun and therefore would never be an ingrate. He said his loyalty to Amosun and a progressive Ogun state is 100% and would align with the governor’s plan to continue the rebuilding mission. The King and his Chiefs took turn to rain prayers on Akinlade and other APM candidates.
We are now paying a courtesy call on the Spiritual Head of Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, Rev Emmanuel MF Oshoffa at his church residence here in Imeko.
We were at Oke Agbede /Moriwi Motale ward and were well received by thousands of party’s faithfuls in that community. The Baale of Wasimi-Okuta and his Chiefs were all there to show their supports. The National association of Oke-Agbede students. AMORAN, ACOMORAN, Hunter association, representatives of the Arewa settlers in the community were among groups that all came out to show their support. The community brought out their masquerade and “Agere” to welcome the movement. The crowd was massive and it was indeed a lively one.
Our next stop was Iwoye/Jabata ward in Iwoye Ketu which is a border town. We were given a warm reception by the people of the community, a large number of which are youths. All organized groups and unions were present to show solidarity to our movement to victory. Mr Felix Dopemu, who was representing the King of Iwoye Ketu, Ooye of Iwoye; welcomed the campaign train while assuring the team of the community’s total support for APM and all its candidates. Youths, women, elders, Hausa/Fulani of the community all had representatives that welcomed the train and promised to deliver the community’s votes for the Allied Peoples Movement. Some former members of the ADC, APC and PDP in the community defected to The APM. They were received by Chief Ojuko who commended them for “not turning their backs to where the world is facing”.
The train branched Idofa ward. The thousands of the indigenes and settlers of Idofa came out en masse to welcome the campaign train with drums, dances and songs of solidarity. Benue indigenes are one of the majority settlers in Idofa, the leader of the group alongside many of its members pledged their loyalty to APM, the Fulani settlers in the community did same as well. Youth leader of Idofa community, Women leader and various organised groups promised to vote massively for APM and stand by their votes. Hon Adekunle appreciated their gesture, charged them to guide against rigging while promising to see to their welfare when he emerges governor of Ogun.
The movement has reached Ilara/Alagbe ward. The party faithfuls in this community took it a step higher to prove their commitment to the movement to victory. The meeting point was the town garage, a very big space that was filled to the brim with people all out to show solidarity. The party’s faithfuls in the ward, apart from bringing out the town’s masquerades, they also organised a live band who was entertaining the audience and singing the praises of all The APM candidates. Indigenous Marketers Association, Ogun state Carpentry Association (Ilara branch), AMORAN, ACOMORAN, NURTW, are among Union present there to show their supports.
The grand rally in Imeko ward has started. We are live at the Ansar-ur-deen primary school here in Imeko. Thousands of party’s faithfuls are here already and we have a fuji musician entertaining the crowd. All The APM party’s stakeholders are here. The guber candidate Hon Akinlade, his running mate, Mrs Adebajo, all APM candidates from Ogun West, members of the campaign council have all mounted the stage. Triple A is presently addressing the enthusiastic audience, enlightening them on his policy and why they should ensure his emergence. We’re now like at Imeko town, the venue of the grand rally of APM in Imeko.
