The campaign train has just left the party secretariat in Abeokuta with hundreds of vehicles forming the campaign convoy. Odeda Local Government will be our host today as we take the movement from ward to ward. Like every other day, all is set and our gallant supporters are ready to take on Odeda Local Government.
The APM campaign train has now reached Obete ward and was well received by thousands Hon Adebayo Sulaimon the APM candidate for the state Assembly representing Odeda, the Baale of Obete and his chiefs, leader of the Fulani settlers in the community and thousands of the people of the community. We were joined by the Ogun state chairman of AMORAN, Wale Mtn. Jimoh Fadipe, Baale of obete prayed for the movement, pledged his support for APM while pleading that Akinlade initiates projects that will bring about development to the community when he emerges. The leader of Fulani settlers, Alhaji Saheed also prayed for the movement, said the Fulani in the community have resolved to vote for Akinlade and all APM candidates. In his response, Adekunle Akinlade said Gov Amosun had done well in the construction of roads in urban settlements, he said he was set to replicate same in the rural communities. He also called for peaceful coexistence between the fulani and other settlers in the community. “It is very important that we live together in peace. I know most of us are concerned about our rural roads, I can assure us, our own priority will be our rural communities. We will open up our rural communities with good roads and put the necessary amenities there, our people will be happy and they can work more to generate wealth.”Akinlade said. “This administration coming is yours, it will be all inclusive.”, he added. The people of the community presented giant fishes to him as a welcome gift. The APM campaign train has now reached Obete ward and was well received by thousands Hon Adebayo Sulaimon the APM candidate for the state Assembly representing Odeda, the Baale of Obete and his chiefs, leader of the Fulani settlers in the community and thousands of the people of the community. The next ward the movement visited was the Opeji ward and the meeting point was the community market Square. The Chief Imam of the community and a Reverend prayed for the success of the movement. The fulanis are major settlers in the community and they all came out to show solidarity and support. The area Baale of Opeji, Chief Ganiu Adeshina Rasaki vowed that he and the people of the community would vote en masse for APM. He said the votes would be for justice and equity to Ogun West who has never produced a governor of the state. He however pleaded that the challenges facing the community such as lack of good roads, inadequate medical facilities and lack of schools, be attended to when Akinlade emerges governor. “Ijebu has ruled Ogun state, Remo has ruled, Egba has ruled and currently running the state. Now we should all support the people of Ogun West.”, the Baale said. “Akinlade is a man of good character and I can assure you that the whole Opeji is behind you. By God’s grace, you shall win this election.”, he prayed. Akinlade thanked them for the support and reception. He said he would leverage on what Amosun has done and bring prompt development to rural communities. He pleaded that they come out in their numbers to vote for him and all APM candidates. He urged them to stand by their votes in order to guide against rigging. “Vote, stay till the votes are counted. If you can, snap the result sheet and have a copy pasted on the wall of your polling boot.” Akinlade said.
The APM campaign train proceeded to Bode-Olude ward where we were received by different interest groups in that area. The meeting point was the Bode-Olude bus stop. The crowd was so large that no vehicle could move. The people were all chanting songs of solidarity for Akinlade. There were prayers by both faiths, the Baales and Chiefs of the area took turn to pray for the success of the APM in the coming polls. Akinlade reiterated his commitment to the development of the nooks and crannies of the state, appreciated the support shown him by the people of the community while promising not to take it for granted.
We’ve taken the movement to Alabata ward. The reception was so intimidating. It was a grand welcome befitting of a popular King. The People of the community lined up the road leading to the ward in intervals. It’s late, but the turn out was very impressive. We got to the ward quite late but it was surprising that people, including traditional rulers, Baales, religious leaders, traders and farmers, young and old stood firm for Akinlade. The Chief Imam of Alabata was glad to receive Triple A, praying wholeheartedly for the man of the people. He said he has profiled Adekunle, and come to ascertain that he is truthful and doesn’t say what he wouldn’t do, he pledged his support and that of the Muslims in the community to him and all APM candidates. He pleaded that the roads leading to Alabata should be rehabilitated, among other social amenities. In his address, Hon Adekunle said: “We know the value of our communities, and we understand that we cannot grow as a people or develop as a people without developing our rural communities. So I’m assuring you that our own government, me and my deputy who is the current commissioner for Agriculture, we’ve resolved to develop our rural communities. We’ve sat down to discuss and realised that once our people are empowered economically, then there will be true development.”
With what we saw at Alabata today, Akinlade is a goal!
We have taken the movement to Osiele ward and there was a mammoth crowd there. As expected, students constituted a larger percentage of the people there because of the proximity of the higher institution to the ward. The students came all out in their numbers chanting solidarity song for Akinlade, who equally engaged them with the “great Nigerian students, great gbo gbo” slang. The elders of the community were also not left out in the crowd that received us. They defied the late night and the harsh weather to come and lend their supports to the Allied Peoples Movement. The area Baale of Osiele, his wife and other Baales of the community were all present. The Baale rained prayers on Akinlade, promising to mobilise votes for him. The Baale’s prayer was in traditional chant, a sort of incantation. He said he was glad to receive the movement and advised Akinlade and APM candidates in the zone to not forget to bring the dividends of democracy to his community when they get to their preferred positions. The movement also received pledges of support from the youths and women of the community. Akinlade appreciated their love for him, he particularly commended them for waiting till that late for his arrival. He said he had listened carefully to their pleads and that all they have asked for were already in his manifesto. He pleaded that they use their PVCs to ensure his emergence and that of the other APM candidates.
Hon Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade particularly addressed the students of the community. He charged them on their role to enlighten the electorate on the voting process. He also charged them to be active in the electoral process. They should vote, stand by their votes and guide against rigging. He reiterated his commitment to greatly involve youths in his administration and thereby urged them to make his emergence possible. With that, we take the movement to the next ward.
Obantoko was locked down for APM. The video sent earlier couldn’t do justice to the amount of people there present. The community stood still for Akinlade and all APM candidates in the zone. The Ontoko of Obantoko led Baales and other chiefs of the community to receive the movement. The mammoth crowd had been waiting for hours before the movement reached there, so it was funfair as they welcomed Akinlade and the APM campaign train. The Oba and the Baales took turns to pray for victory of the movement in the forthcoming elections. The members of community development Council of Obantoko all came out to show solidarity. The youths were also not left out. The Chairman of Baales in Obantoko who is also the area Baale of Obantoko, Chief Fayemi Toriola, prayed that Akinlade succeeds Amosun in order to continue the good work of the present administration. He also pleaded that Akinlade’s administration should surpass the Amosun’s especially in the area of rural community development. The Seriki Hausa of Obantoko was also present to show solidarity, same as the Igede indegenes in the community. Akinlade appreciated them, said their complaints are already contained in the 25-years development blueprint which will guide his administration. He promised to never disappoint them.
The campaign train has left the party secretariat in Leme, Abeokuta headed for Odeda Local Government. The campaign train is taking on the remaining wards in Odeda Local Government having visited Obete, Opeji, Bode-Olude, Alabata, Osiele and Obantoko yesterday. We’re now set to take our movement to victory to ILUGUN, ALAGBAGBA, OLODO, BALOGUN ITESI and ODEDA wards, all in Odeda Local Government.
We’ve had another brief stop at mechanic village in camp, Abeokuta where we met with the leadership and members of the National Automobile Technicians Association – NATA. The chairman of NATA Ogun state, Mr Jubril Sotunde said the entirety of the association was solidly behind Akinlade and they’ve all resolved to vote for APM. He pleaded that the Akinlade’s administration should not forget them when he emerges governor especially in the area of empowerment and provision of basic amenities in their village. Akinlade appreciated the reception from NATA despite that the meeting was impromptu. He said he had followed Gov Amosun to the place years ago and has had discussions with Amosun on how to better treat the different associations in the state. He promised to never take their welfare for granted. Crested shirts, caps and flags bearing APM logo were given to them.
The campaign train has now reached Ilugun ward where thousand of the people of the community had camped at the community square to receive Akinlade and his team. Several Baales of the the community and the chairperson of Ilugun LCDA and thousands of the APM loyalists in the community gave the movement a grandeur reception. Akinlade was welcomed to the ward amidst songs and drums, and display by the hunters association of the community. Different organised groups all came out to identify with our movement, each with its banner carrying message of solidarity for Akinlade and APM. We received hundreds of defectors from the PDP led by the Jogunomi of Odeda who is also the Mayegun of Ilugun. They said they had left PDP because of their strong believe in a progressive Ogun state which can only be achieved by continuity of the Amosun development plan. They vowed to do everything they could to make sure APM win in the forthcoming elections. One of the defectors, Comrade Adeyemi Olufemi said he shared same Alma mater with Akinlade and he was ready to mobilise for him. The Baales and Chiefs of the community also prayed for the success of the movement, they said they would mobilise votes for Akinlade while pleading that Akinlade makes their welfare a priority when he emerges. Akinlade appreciated them for coming out in their numbers to show support. He stressed that the forthcoming election was a defining one in the lives of the people of Ogun State and therefore urged them to be part of history by voting for him. He said he would do everything in his might to bring rapid development to communities and that he was posed to continue the rebuilding mission of Ogun State started by Gov Amosun. He said he some people thought voters in Ogun state would not be able to differentiate between ballot papers during the February 16th election, and that it was what the opposition was hoping to bank on. He therefore urged them to be extra careful while voting. “The Presidential election is going for Buhari, Senatorial is for our leader Amosun while that of the Federal House of Representatives is for Micky Kazzim of APM with the cassava logo”, he said.
We’ve taken the movement to Olodo ward and you all can see what the reception was like. The Igunnuko came out to welcome us. Thousands of the community people are all out here. I’m telling you for free now, that Chief Ebenezer Obey has joined us here. This kind of support is unprecedented!
At Olodo ward, the league of Baales of the community came all out to receive the movement and show solidarity. Organised groups and many interest groups were well represented. Christian Association of Nigeria, Aluminium Association, Grinders Association , Fruit Sellers association were among groups present. The cheers became louder when veteran musician and evangelist, Chief Ebenezer Obey arrived the event. Chief Obey came to show support, had a chat with Akinlade and took pictures before he left. The area Baale of Olodo lauded the effort of Gov Amosun while asking Akinlade to bring development to areas that Amosun couldn’t do. He emphasised the importance of motorable roads in their community as that is the only means they can transport their farm produce to the city for sale. Adekunle Akinlade appreciated the show of love, he said he would prioritise the development of rural communities to complement what Gov Amosun is doing in the urban areas.
The APM campaign train proceeded to Alagbagba Village where it was received by a mammoth crowd. Some young and old people of Alagbagba stood by both sides of the road leading to the community, with cassava in their hands, singing and hailing APM, Akinlade and other members of the campaign train. Surprisingly, APM has become a household name. Villagers see the APM as a party that would give them sense of belonging. All politics is local, you know. The Olu of Alagbagba urged Akinlade to give them good road, water, electricity, hospitals and so on, promising to mobilise votes for him. Northerners in the village appealed to the APM team to vote for Buhari, saying they would also vote for candidates of the APM. Akinlade told the people that Ogun would be a better place for all of us if continuity was ensured. He urged the people to get their PVCs and vote for Buhari as the President, Amosun as their senator, both in the APC. He begged them to vote for Hon. Micky Kazzim as their Representative.
The movement moved to Balogun Itesi ward and was received by a mammoth crowd of the community. The traditional leaders of the community came out to show solidarity. They promised to deliver the ward for Akinlade and all APM candidates. The main issue raised by the Baale was that of electricity and roads. Akinlade promised to see to the installation of solar panels in the community so as to power the community. He reiterated his commitment to the development of rural communities and his plans on opening up the communities through the construction of roads leading to and within the communities. Akinlade said one of the reasons for his ward to ward campaign was to feel the pulse of the people he would govern, to see for himself the problem battling them so as to proffer lasting solutions to them when he emerges. Just after leaving the ward, we paid a courtesy call on the Olu of Itesi, Oba Oluwagbemiga. He prayed for the success of the APM in the coming polls while assuring Akinlade of the community’s total support for him. We’ve now moved to Odeda ward, the last ward and the venue of the grand rally of APM movement to Odeda Local Government.
All well and good, the APM campaign team finally landed in Odeda for a rally like carnival. The crowd was enormous, the movement got a grand reception as the people of Odeda ward troop out in their thousands to show solidarity despite the late night. There was a live band who entertained the crowd. You already know Triple A is a man of the people, he mixed freely with them, exchanging pleasantries with the people who had waited hours for his arrival. You won’t be surprised that Hon. Akinlade, aside from being an orator, showed that he is an entertainer, a good stage performer, singing and dancing to the admiration of many. His level of popularity is increasing day by day in geometric progression. Who wouldn’t love an handsome, cheerful, brilliant and competent young man like him? Obas and Baales in Odeda were out to welcome the man of the people. The Olu of Odeda, Oba Ishola Olorunshola said he and his people stood firm with Akinlade and the APM. He said even if the election would be conducted 10 times, Akinlade will win flawlessly. “Let me tell you this, Odeda stands firm with Akinlade and the APM. Let them conduct this election 10 times, Akinlade will win. “Akinlade is the next governor of Ogun State. We want continuity. That’s the way to go if Ogun State must develop.” the monarch said. Akinlade in his words, appreciated the people for their supports, which he said he would never take for granted. He appealed to the people to vote for him and other candidates of the APM, saying “I won’t let you down.” With that we ended our visit to wards in Odeda Local Government and I can tell you categorically that APM has been strongly established in Odeda Local Government. But just before leaving Odeda, Akinlade, his running mate Adebajo and Micky Kazzim paid a courtesy call on the Jaguna Alaragbo Osiele, Chief Atanda Ogundele. It was a close door session but Hon Micky Kazzim who addressed the crowd after the meeting said the visit was a rite that the team had to pay. He added that the Alaragbo was a force to reckon with in Osiele.
